Bathtub Refinishing Dallas has serviced the Dallas Tx. area for over 22 years (since 1991) and is completed using synthetic porcelain. To learn some background about Bathtub Refinishing Dallas you first have to learn what Bathtub refinishing is not. Although confusing terms are used for bathtub refinishing it is important to know that true bathtub refinishing is the process of fusing a new surface into, not on top of the old. The synthetic porcelain top coat of the bathtub, shower or tile is etched into the old surface of the bathtub, shower or tile so the surface is then refinished with a new surface that is an integral part of the fixture.
In today's bathtub refinishing industry we have many companies or individual placing a black cloud over our industry by not using correct or approved bathtub refinishing procedures and they are simply painting bathtubs with epoxy paint. This is NOT Bathtub Refinishing but instead is just simply called bathtub painting. Within the Bathtub, shower and tile refinishing industry we call this 'Apartment quality' work. We do not mean this as a cut down but rather call it this because it was Apartments and multi housing units that first asked for bathtubs, showers and tile to be painted. The name refinishing came about because most of the pioneers of the bathtub refinishing business were auto body workers. In the automotive industry the name for repainting a damaged fender (for example) was called refinishing. So as legitimate refinishers seen the benefit of not painting but refinishing we lobbied specialty coating suppliers to invent a technology that could be a permanent fix for bathtub, tile and shower finishes. This lead to the next generation of bathtub refinishing coatings to realize the opportunity to make money through offering superior methods were realized. I have been in the bathtub, shower, tile, refinishing business since 1991. So I have seen and worked with the apartment grade epoxy paints. I have written my fair share of emails and letters explaining what we were looking for in the bathtub refinishing industry. So many times an Apartment would want to load you up with 10 to 12 jobs a day and have the tubs painted with epoxy. No prep work, they wanted maintenance to do the prep work. Don't get me wrong going from unit to unit and doing a tub sometimes 3 tubs per unit was great money. However, If you moved into that unit and all you knew was that 'XYZ' company did your refinishing and it looked bad because the maintenance did not clean the area well enough. Who would you blame for that poor job? The company!
The last month I worked for multi- housing I was leaving my house at 5am. I was re cleaning tubs so I would not wake the neighbors and at least do everything in my power to do the best job I could for the little money the apartments wanted to pay. I was working from 5 am and getting home at 9pm during the summer months and doing 10 to 12 jobs a day!! Still not happy with the end result, still knowing I could have done better but all the apartments wanted was something to last a lease term then start over again. Then they wanted to make comments when they paid like "you just did this one 6 months ago, or we give you so much work we should get some free work". The truth was they never warned the residents the bathtubs were refinished, they never told them don't use non slip mats. They never told them "don't use comet or abrasives". So it was like spinning your wheels on ice. No traction and just not appreciated. As soon as the technology was introduced for bathtub, shower, tile coatings that could withstand some abuse, was high gloss and was able to be etched into the old surface instead of on top of the old surface I backed away from apartment grade work. I focused on residential work where I was working on a refinishing project for the owner. I was able to work for people I wanted to work for and I remember the first residential bathtub I refinished in late 2009. The Lady called her husband home from work on his lunch break and both were just amazed at the after picture. The Husband brought me a subway sandwich and we sat down and ate and it was such a friendly atmosphere! Now I had refinished thousands of surfaces up to that point but never had someone excited about the finished project. It was clear this was these people hard earned money. They were proud of the outcome and appreciative of the money I saved them from replacement!
