Have you thought about how you can update your home without having to undertake a major remodeling project? Let's discuss a couple of options you have for doing this.
Most people Immediately turn to Remodeling
Remodeling is an absolute way to make the bathroom or any room look new again. The length of time it takes, the dust it stirs up, additional cost when hidden problems are discovered and the number of strangers in your home will cause a lot of us to avoid this avenue completely.
Another way to update your bathroom is to paint the tile and bathtub. The problem is that tile and bathtub surfaces are non porous. It is like trying to paint glass. Since paint goes on top of the old surface and will wear down It doesn't take very long before you have a peeling mess to deal with that inevitably becomes partially stuck to the surface leaving areas peeled off.
Bathtub and Tile Refinishing Dallas
Often confused with Bathtub and Tile painting. However, bathtub and tile refinishing is a synergistic process that involves creating microscopic pores in the old surface so the new synthetic porcelain surface can be chemically welded with a molecular bonding agent into, not on top of the old surface. The pictures below are the Completed Pictures from above.
Bathtub Refinishing Dallas since 1991. It's so hard to believe I started my refinishing business after graduating high school in 1991 right here in Dallas,Tx. When we are young, or maybe it was just me but when I was young nothing seemed to rattle me. I think I was too naive to be very honest. I would tell her things will get better, although she never complained or asked for them too. It was just something I remember telling my wife several times throughout our first years of marriage.
I honestly think having a strong faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior made us feel that we could weather these storms and we honestly never doubted that things would get better. I can tell you one thing for absolutely sure time does fly by! My daughter is now 23! She is taking psychology in College, now on her second semester. So I have been evaluated by her weekly and I am afraid I am going to have to change the locks on my house! Do you know every time i tell her something she starts breaking down what I said to see if there is a different meaning behind it! LOL.... I love her to death but it is so hard... so incredibly hard to take advice from someone who still had a personal relationship with Santa Clause 10 years ago!! 😂😂 I mean seriously, to most of us 10 years ago was just .. 10 years ago. To her it was that awkward middle school years we probably all would like to forget!
That's my baby tho! So I will continue to pray 😂😂.
Bathtub Refinishing Dallas Prices
Now that I have went through my personal life which probably interested no one ... I will touch base on the business of bathtub refinishing in Dallas. I want to say with that I do not feel I am any better than any one else in the bathtub refinishing Industry in Dallas. We have a lot of very hard working, dedicated professionals that truly do a magnificent job. The problems occur and I have had this issue myself, when we hire help. This is why I pledge to remain an owner / operated business. When we hire help in an industry like bathtub refinishing we are putting a lot of trust in that hired hand. As a customer you are no longer getting the experience of the company that has been in business for 20 - 30 years or more, you are getting a person that maybe has never refinished anything before. Maybe they have refinished 3 tubs before or maybe they are a veteran with years of experience behind them.
The scary part is even tho that company that has been in business for years backs up the work there are far too many shortcuts that someone can take on the preparation of the surface that absolutely will effect the quality and longevity of the refinished fixture.
This is not a trade that can be rushed, each step prepares the surface for the next step and if just one of those steps are left out then your surface will fail quick. If that technician is lazy or simply feeling lazy that day then your new surface and your investment will fail. I'm telling you from experience, I have had so many headaches by my paid help that just simply should not have happened!
I am 44 years old and as long as the good Lord is blessing me with the ability to work I will never retire! It is not something I'm interested in. I enjoy meeting customers, feeling appreciated when the job is completed and the customers sees a night and day difference in the bathtub, shower or tile surface.
If you are interested in my flat rate pricing for DFW then please see my main site here!
Already pushing thru January of 2017! I have my prices and sale prices posted on my site. Flat Rate, now I have had some customers ask me how I can offer flat rate prices? The truth is if I were not an owner / operated company I could not! I may end up spending 2 hours longer on a project that just is not going right, in other words it may be my fault, it may be the project just needed some extra work. The point being, if I hired help that extra time would simply have to be charged for. I think everyone understand that. Since I am self employed I can spend that extra time Helping out a customer and some customers do not realize the savings associated with having someone willing to honor a no hidden fee agreement. Most customers do! Most customers appreciate having the tub and tile refinished not simply painted.
I want to say thank you to all of my customers! I hope to continue providing great service for another 25 years! I enjoy people, I enjoy the refinishing business and enjoy educating customers on why and how bathtub epoxy painting is not the same as true bathtub refinishing. Please take a minute to just look at my main site. I have prices, information, before and after pictures and all contact information. Dallas Bathtub Refinishing

Our new molecular bonding agent has passed all test including a 24 hour battery acid test! I have created a MONSTER! I always wanted to say that :) The truth is I am excited about my new bonding agent! This is new technology that I truly feel is going to change the face of the refinishing Industry in the upcoming years! Never before has the refinishing industry been able to PERMANENTLY bond the coating! Combine this with the etching so the new surface is melted into the old surface and that's a winning combination!
A molecular bonding agent that is applied by hand to be worked into the old surface by etching the old surface before applying PolyCeramic glass Glaze synthetic porcelain with liquid glass additive is a one, two punch that will make your Bathroom look brand new and just as important.. It will Last! In fact it has a life expectancy of 20+ years when used daily!! Why Replace?
You will not find another company in the world using this molecular bonding agent! I put together my own list of ingredients, blended them at exact concentrations and tested hundreds upon hundreds of areas over the years and then monitored and abused those areas until I found the right formula. It works in a synergistic way that simply can not be duplicated without knowing the formula! NO PEEL ; NO LOSS OF GLOSS
How long does Bathtub Refinishing Last?
That is a great question! "How long should bathtub refinishing last"? || I wish the answer could be as straight forward as saying 5 years, 10 years, 15 years. However, the truth is, all of those answers are correct. Once the coating is applied it is up to the owner to determine how long it will "live". First, remember it is a durable copolymer coating. Under normal use it is designed to last close to 20 years. So let's look at things that destroy a refinished tub.
So how long will a refinished tub last?
Well, I use a permanent bonding system callas fusion lock. I make sure the surface is 2 mils thick. I Use a synthetic porcelain that is rated for a 20 year life span. So if you clean the tub properly, diluted bleach, lysol bathtub cleaner, scrubbing bubbles, all of which are great. Then you will get 15 - 25 years out of the refinished product before it needs to be refinished again!
The best rule of thumb is to treat the tub like it is an acrylic tub. Porcelain is fired at over 1800 (f) we can not mimic that in the home. So although the surface looks like porcelain it will need to be taken care of with non damaging, non abrasive cleaners and invest in a bath caddy to store soaps and shampoos. They are inexpensive and prevent concentrated bathing products from sitting on the surface 24 hours a day! Dallas Bathtub Refinishing

Let's take a look at Bathtub Refinishing, Bathtub Reglazing, Bathtub Resurfacing, Bathtub Refacing and Bathtub Restoration. There are so many terms we have to wonder exactly what is the difference!
The terminology means very little. All of the following : Bathtub Refinishing, Bathtub Reglazing, Bathtub Resurfacing, Bathtub Refinishing, Bathtub Refacing, Bathtub restoration. All mean to create a new surface within the old surface. This is never done with Epoxy paint, it is never done with paint period! That is the part that gets a little crazy. I mean you see the D.I.Y. epoxy paint system in the home improvement store and it says bathtub, sink, tile refinishing on the can! How is it that a person is suppose to know there even is a difference?
I would like to urge every professional refinishing company to educate the public! As an Industry we know we have a black cloud over us. However, we also know that black cloud is from misinformation and half truths about bathtub refinishing. We know bathtub painting and bathtub refinishing is two completely different things! We have to educate others to know that when you paint a bathtub with epoxy paint and use it daily then it may last 3 months before it looks worn out. If you clean the Epoxy coated bathtub with diluted bleach then it will turn yellow, permanently!
There is a silver lining! Professional bathtub refinishing companies use synthetic porcelain coatings, coatings cross linked with everything from fiberglass, vinyl and liquid glass! Professionals have access and experience with chemicals that allow us to create pores in the old surface, then we have molecular bonding agents to chemically weld the new finish into those pores, into the old surface! Not just on top of the old surface like paint! Learn more and let us help you with your refinishing project.
The process of Bathtub Refinishing is the process of penetrating the old surface and creating a permanent bond that chemically welds the new surface into the old surface.
Dallas, Tx. has a competitive market when it comes to bathtub refinishing. However, we have a unique refinishing process to create a permanent bond. Combine that with the ultra high Gloss and toughness of synthetic porcelain and that is a winning combination for Bathtub, tile, shower, vanity and counter top refinishing.
How does refinishing work? Are the kits just as good if I'm a D.I.Y. person?
Bathtub Refinishing works by creating microscopic scratches in the old surface. A professional bathtub refinishing company will then use an adhesive primer and finish with about 5 coats of Quality finish coat so the idea is to bond the finish coat to the old surface and the microscopic abrasions give 'Bite' to the new coating. We make sure those microscopic abrasions are on every square inch of the surface being refinished. I then hand rub the molecular bonding primer into those pores that have been created. Then I apply 3 - 5 coats of Synthetic porcelain finish coat. After that cures I apply another coating of molecular bonding agent and 3 -5 more coats of synthetic porcelain. In essence this creates a permanent bond into the old surface followed by a permanent bond onto the old surface! Now, other refinishers tell me I am doing too much work. They argue that the second application is not needed. To that I simply say O.K. let them continue to take short cuts, thin down the coating, save $20.00 here and there. I will continue to go the extra mile, Provide more then the minimum coating and get repeat customers and referrals which saves me money on heavy advertising! A good business person knows #1) if you take care of your customers and simply do the job right then those happy customers tell others about you! #2) That saving $20.00 here and there sounds great on paper. However, If you have to raise your advertising budget just to keep work coming in then your really not saving that extra $20 to $ 30. All you are doing is providing an inferior service and then costing yourself money and customers in the long run! Dallas, Mesquite, Garland, Bathtub Refinishing
Bathtub Refinishing coatings are not a one size fits all type of coating. The reason is partly because the surface preparation of each material is different, also because of some of the materials ability to flex under weight.
You would not want the same coating that is designed for refinishing a Cast Iron Bathtub to be used on a Fiberglass Bathtub. If you own a fiberglass bathtub you understand how the surface will flex when you step in and out of the tub. Could you imagine having the ultra hard coating applied over a flexible surface such as Fiberglass or Acrylic? As the original surface flexes the new surface would begin to show cracks. Then water would penetrate those cracks and before long it would simply erode away your new surface. Much like a river eroding away the land the river is moving through. (See how I brought that visual comparison into play!) LOL.
The great news is, with professional refinishing their are ways to to allow for the flexible surfaces such as fiberglass and acrylic. The truth is a professional refinisher should know #1) Which product to use for the surface the application is for and #2) There absolutely is not a one coating works on everything method!
You will however, find plenty of refinishers that claim the coating they use works on any surface. I have a pretty good theory as to why they make that claim. Back when I first started refinishing in 1991 we were very limited on what we could use for refinishing. In 1991 there was not a synthetic porcelain coating. In fact we the simple truth was we had to experiment to see what worked, the refinishing industry relied on Epoxy paint and if it was going on a flexible surface, those of us that understood the properties of Epoxy knew we could back off a little on the hardening agent and get the coating to flex. The trade off was the coating would not be as durable but in those days Refinishing was mainly for Apartments, Hotels and Rental properties that simply needed a quick fix to get another lease term satisfied!
As the Industry became more main stream and coating manufacturing companies seen a market they started making technological advancements in the coatings used for Bathtub, shower, tile refinishing. First was the fact that refinishing technicians were begging for another option besides epoxy! Epoxy had a dull appearance, It made the surface look painted, It yellowed when bleach was used on it. (which is why the Epoxy D.I.Y. kits have a yellow tint to them, They say white but if you look at them they are slightly almond). The coating gloss, and durability began to advance and by 2005 After literally trying every new coating that came on the market, I started using this new product called Synthetic Porcelain. Synthetic porcelain was able to mimic the gloss of porcelain. Did not yellow when bleach was used, Had a smooth, tough as nails surface! By 2007 we had a full line of synthetic porcelain coatings which were specifically designed for the Bathtub, Shower, Tile refinishing industry. The development of synthetic porcelain for Fiberglass Bathtub Refinishing, Acrylic Bathtub Refinishing, Cultured Marble Bathtub Refinishing. We had the training and ability to etch the old surface which would expose pores and create microscopic scratches which would allow us to chemically weld a new synthetic porcelain surface into the old surface, not onto the old surface like paint!
I sincerely appreciate the time you took to read this information. I feel if I can educate the consumer about bathtub refinishing facts instead of just other peoples opinions about the bathtub refinishing process then you will share my passion and appreciation for the savings that can be realized through correctly refinishing a bathtub, shower or tile surface. <Bathtub Refinishing>
